Traitafina AG is a food producer with its head office in Lenzburg (Aargau). The production is focused on meat, meat products and on convenience articles. The around 300 employees achieve in Switzerland an annual turnover of around 110 million francs. Traitafina generates more than half of its turnover with the Swiss hotel and restaurant industry, which is known as an industry sector with a high level of insolvencies.
In order to avoid losses the credit-worthiness of every new customer is checked by Traitafina. In case of a negative result, delivery is only carried out against preliminary or cash payment. At the same time, a permanent overview of the financial situations of all debtors is important to Traitafina as well. «We want to look at our customers’ payment practices from a helicopter’s perspective,»says Edi Krebs, Head of Finances at Traitafina. In order to know about their customers’ ability to pay and especially about changes to their customers’ paying behaviour, Traitafina participates in the D&B DunTrade®Programme of Dun & Bradstreet. To this end Traitafina provides an OI list on a monthly basis (list of open invoices, i.e. of the invoices that have been booked). This list together with those provided by other Dun & Bradstreet customers gets processed in an anonymised form.
All participants of the Dun & Bradstreet DunTrade Programme receive an analysis of their debtors’ payment behaviour. This shows the chronological development of payment practices and in addition it allows a comparison with the way how debts of other creditors are rendered. By means of these analyses they are able to judge their own claims management in comparison with other suppliers and to perceive possible bad debt losses in time.
