Emile Egger & Cie SA is a medium-size and owner-led Swiss industrial enterprise with approximately 380 employees. Its head office is located in Cressier (NE). Egger manufactures pumps for the conveyance of fluids laden with solids and gasses such as diaphragm control valves. The enterprise owns four production sites and fourteen sales offices which are supplemented with an extensive network of commercial agencies.
At the beginning of 2014, Egger decided to move its customers more and more into to the very centre of what they do with a company-wide CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system. So far the individual locations kept records of their customers locally. This meant that the internal administrative viewpoint of the respective branches was the focus of the entire customer relationship. So for example, it was not possible to determine the exact number of customers and it also meant that other in-depth analysis could not be carried out. The preliminary work showed that some of the existing data was incomplete, not up to date or had been recorded incorrectly. In order to standardise and align the data records, Egger used Dun & Bradstreet’s knowledge and data.
The cleansing and expansion of the data began with the two national locations as well as the agency in Great Britain. Egger made the data from several systems available to Dun & Bradstreet, which they then ran through the matching process. The D&B D-U-N-S-number was used as a clear identification key to identify and combine customers with multiple data records and thus clean duplicate entries. Dun & Bradstreet were able to enhance the cleansed data further by appending the Industrial Classification code, the links to parent- and subsidiary companies as well as the activity indicator. After this successful first step, other locations have been added and Egger is currently working on synchronising master data for the CRM for all locations worldwide. «Dun & Bradstreet’s data cleansing was a life saver for our CRM project. Now we have good and clean data», stated Raphael Tagliani, Chief Information Officer at Egger. «We also especially value the great support and quick response times.»
