Wal-Mart de México (operating as Wal-Mart de México y Centroamérica) is the numero uno retailer in Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua with about 3,000 stores. These include Bodega food and general merchandise stores and Superama supermarkets, as well about 10 Medimart Farmacia de Walmart. It also runs Wal-Mart Supercenters, SAM'S CLUB and ClubCo warehouse stores. Its stores are located in more than 500 cities throughout the region. Wal-Mart Stores formed a joint venture with Mexico's Cifra in 1991 and in 2000 acquired it and renamed it Wal-Mart de México. Wal-Mex then added Wal-Mart's operations in Central America and became Wal-Mart de México y Centroamérica in 2010.
