One of Thailand's largest commercial banks by total assets, deposits, and loans, The Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) hails from royal beginnings. It is the country's oldest bank, established by King Rama V in 1906 in response to the proliferation of foreign financial institutions in Thailand. It offers a variety of financial services, such as corporate and personal lending, retail and wholesale banking, credit cards, life insurance, foreign currency trading, and investment banking, among others. SCB operates through a network of about 1,200 branches and 9,140 ATMs; it is expanding regionally. In 2014, SCB had Baht 2,553 billion in total assets, Baht 1,781 billion in deposits, and Baht 1,733 billion in loans.
