American Outdoor Brands (AOB) is a holding company of 20 firearm and outdoor brands, including its main business, Smith & Wesson, which makes and markets pistols, revolvers, tactical rifles, and police accessories. Smith & Wesson is the exclusive importer of Walther pistols with US production rights for the Walther PPK model. AOB's other brands include Crimson Trace (electro-optics), Gemtech (suppressors), Bubba (fishing gear), and Old Timer (cutting tools). While most of its operations are in the US, AOB has facilities in Belgium and China. Founded in 1852, the company was renamed from Smith & Wesson Holding Corp to American Outdoor Brands in 2016. In 2019 the company announced it would spin off its outdoor products and accessories business creating two independent public companies.
