Ooredoo provides mobile, fixed-line telephone, broadband Internet, and corporate managed services to more than 100 million users in emerging markets in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Asia Pacific region. Its two biggest markets are its home country of Qatar and Indonesia. Ooredoo traces its history back to 1949 when the first telephone exchange was installed in Qatar. The company recently changed its name from Qtel to Ooredoo, which means "I want" in Arabic, to reflect its international ambitions. The country's government owns 52% of the company.
