Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) is one of the world's largest telecom companies. The company owns a controlling stake in Japan's dominant cellular carrier, NTT DoCoMo (75 million subscribers), and it is a holding company for regional phone companies NTT East and NTT West, which enjoy de facto monopolies in their respective markets. NTT provides long-distance, international, and data networking services through subsidiary NTT Communications. The company also operates an ISP and provides IT services through majority-owned NTT DATA. NTT has foreign holdings in Europe, the Pacific Rim, and the US. The Japanese state owns 35% of the company.
