Hanwha Aerospace is the only gas turbine aircraft engine maker in South Korea. The company also supplies engine parts including inlet cases, outer guided vanes, and fan blades to other OEM aircraft engine manufacturers such as GE, Pratt &Whitney, and Rolls Royce. Hanwha also provides parts and maintenance services for military combat planes, helicopters, and marine vessels. The company began making aircraft engines in 1979 and by 2016 had produced more than 8,000 units. In 2019 Hanwha acquired Connecticut-based EDAC Technologies for about $300 million.
