One of Europe's leading mining and smelting companies, Boliden concentrates on zinc and copper. It's among the largest producers of mined zinc in Europe while also producing lead, precious metals, sulfur, and lead and tin alloys. Boliden operates smelters in Sweden, Finland, and Norway; it has mines in Sweden and Ireland. It ranks among the top zinc and copper producers in Europe. In 2010 Boliden acquired Kemira Oyj's sulphuric acid plant and business in Kokkola, Finland. Boliden's total 2013 proved and probable reserves were about 700 million tonnes. It aims to buy the Kylylahti copper mine with exploration rights with copper/nickel deposits in the Outokumpu field in eastern Finland for $95 million.
