In the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we extend our heart-felt sympathies to the individuals, families, and businesses that have lost so much in these disasters. Like many members of the corporate community, D&B is committed to helping the 631,000 businesses in the 134 FEMA-declared counties and parishes. As these communities undergo recovery and reconstruction, we are striving to promote revitalization through a number of support initiatives.
| Keeping our customers connected | - We continue to keep you informed on the operational status of each and every business in the FEMA declared disaster area throughout the recovery period. We are placing approximately 20,000 calls each day to resolve and confirm the status of businesses in the affected regions.
- Following a 20% increase in requests from contractors who require our unique identifier to obtain federal contracts, we have accelerated our provision of D-U-N-S® Numbers to businesses in the region.
- We are monitoring daily the top 45 business reports on companies in the disaster region most requested by our customers to keep you abreast of new developments as they occur. Concurrently, we are placing Special Notices in the Business Information Reports of companies located in the disaster area, including 46,000 Business Deterioration Notices. These Special Notices will help you identify affected companies and confirm their operational status.
- We are suspending payment/collection activity and delinquency reporting on affected businesses to enable them to concentrate fully on their urgent rebuilding efforts.

| Rebuilding the Gulf Coast Community | - The D&B Foundation has contributed to Habitat for Humanity in support of “Operation Home Delivery,” a three-phase response that provides assistance and rebuilds opportunities along the Gulf Coast.
- Local office outreach efforts are well under way, including fundraising activities, food and clothing drives and more.
In a message encouraging other team members to participate, one D&B team member stated, “Living our Winning Culture does not stop when we leave D&B each night.” Throughout the reconstruction of the areas affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we will remain a trusted source of business insight so that together we may recover and rebuild with confidence. We encourage all members of the community to help where they can. |
